It's pretty much been downhill from there.” - Steve Maybury.

When it comes to the Scottish Cup, every club has their stories - tales of glory, near-misses, and heartbreak that define generations of support. It has a way of making believers out of cynics - a competition where league form dissolves and anything feels possible.

As three-time winners, St Mirren’s triumphs span different eras of football history - 1926 laying the foundation, 1959 bridging generations through stories passed down, and 1987 living on through cherished footage and first-hand memories that feel more precious with each passing year.

But that's the magic of the Cup, isn't it? He shouts, barely audible over the Cliche Klaxon.

It creates these perfect moments in time, preserved in family folklore and pub chat—the heroic victories, the memorable runs, and that feeling that builds with each round. Even stories of losses are passed on. Above all else though, is the persistent hope that maybe, just maybe, this could be our year.

As the fourth round kicks off this weekend, I asked the good people of the Misery Hunters Discord to share their Scottish Cup memories - moments that have stayed with them through the years.
