The Eartha Kitt. The Gravel Pit. The sleeper hit.

As things stand we find ourselves in fifth place, three points (and one game) ahead of Dundee in sixth. With two weeks of a break, the squad now has ample time to reflect on where we are, and where this squad can realistically go with the five massive matches that lie between us and the summer.

Here’s Misery Hunters’ Andrew Christie. Let’s list five things we noticed in the last week, shall we?

Starting Out

Saturday saw us visit what is unfortunately the closest stadium to my house, as we faced Celtic in Glasgow. As is so often the case under Stephen Robinson, we took the game to our Old Firm opponent from the off, and in an inverse of the experience of most, it was Celtic who struggled to contain us for long periods of the first half.

Alex Gogic’s reading of the game was excellent, and a key component in us building from the back. Toyosi Olusanya’s ability in getting us up the pitch was as important as ever and Greg Kiltie’s workrate and leading of the press saw Celtic (despite experiencing the vast majority of possesion) cut a frustrated and broadly ineffectual figure. Chances were at a premium at both ends (the hosts did not register a shot on target all half) but Brendan Rodgers’ side were by far the happier going into the break with the score remaining goalless.

Comes Apart

Ultimately, Celtic’s quality shone through in the second half, and you'd be hard-pressed to say the champions weren't good for their 3-0 win on the day.

My general instinct around games like this is to print off every "free hit" tweet and fashion myself a big paper mache wicker man to go out in, but there were positives to take from Saturday, and areas of game management to work on.

Overall, it wasn't a game we necessarily learned anything about ourselves we didn't already know, but you can't say it wasn't a game that definitely happened.

Split Decision

A late Motherwell equaliser against Hibs and a goalless draw between Aberdeen and Dundee saw the Dens Park side claim the league’s final top-six place - their first in over a decade.

Once again, we saw some familiar big hitters miss out, with Hibs (lol), Aberdeen (lol) and Motherwell (you were never really in the race but you still get a lol and you know why) confined to the wrong half of the table.

Kilmarnock’s win over St Johnstone means fourth place is now theirs to lose, turning fifth place into a straight shootout between ourselves and Dundee. With five games now to play, the race for European football looks like going the distance.

Semi-Charmed Life

Thirty-seven years ago this week we beat Hearts at Hampden, claimed a Scottish Cup final place for the first time since 1962 and - thanks to an incredible little Adidas number - looked absolutely sick in the process.

In the Middle

Caolan Boyd-Munce’s recent contract extension was met with great delight in Paisley, and his mid-week interview with the club painted the picture of a bright, switched-on young man thriving both on and off the pitch.

Across his 38 appearances this season, we have seen CBM grow into an integral part of the Saints midfield.

He’s the type of player who reminds you why you love football.
